Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
Display Screen Equipment (DSE) are devices or equipment that have an alphanumeric or graphic display screen and include PCs, laptops, touch screens, tablets, smartphones and other devices.
Prolonged periods of improper DSE use (such as adopting the wrong posture or incorrectly setting up equipment) can lead to a number of health problems.
Employers have a legal requirement to ensure that all users of DSE (including those working from home) comply with the Health and Safety (DSE) Regulations 1992. You must provide training and information to all DSE users who regularly use DSE as a significant part of their normal work, for continuous periods of an hour or more. The law applies to users at a fixed workstation, mobile workers, homeworkers and those who hot-desk.
As a supplement to this course, you may be interested in our Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessment Tool to help manage and monitor your team’s DSE training, potential risks, and outcomes. Please get in touch with us on 01332 208500 to find out more.
