Aims of the course
The Fire Marshal Training / Fire Warden Training course aims to ensure the trainee understands what the role of a Fire Marshal or Fire Warden involves, and the basic actions that can be taken to prevent fires occurring.
This online training course will demonstrate the role Marshals or Wardens have in implementing a fire safety management plan and the importance of good housekeeping. By taking this course, learners will be able to identify typical causes of fire and recognise the different types of fire-fighting equipment and know when they should be used. They will also understand the “do’s and don’ts” of a safe evacuation and be able to carry out a clean sweep of an allocated area.

Course content
1INTRODUCTION
The course begins with a recap of the essentials of basic fire safety. This section then covers the impact of fire, fire incidents, safe visual assessments, understanding risk, human behaviours, raising the alarm, evacuation and escape routes, fire fighting equipment and tackling a fire (if necessary or safe to do so).
2PLANNED APPROACH
This part of the course focuses on the fire emergency evacuation plan and the two common methods of accounting for people i.e. roll call and sweep search. Learners will also be shown how to understand their limitations and be given information about evacuation plans.
3ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within this chapter, day-to-day responsibilities are covered and information is provided about liaising with the Senior Fire Officer. Learners will explore emergency situations and post evacuation activities and understand how to carry out an emergency procedures review.
4EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
This section explains the role of both the Fire Marshal/Fire Warden and the Building Safety Manager in an emergency situation. Learners will be taught how to search using their senses and be given thorough information about tackling fires (only if safe to do so). The course concludes with information about what should be covered in a post evacuation meeting.
5FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT
This chapter takes a comprehensive look at the different types of fire fighting equipment and how to identify them. Learners will understand how fires are classified and how to use different types of fire extinguisher. Additional information is given about the use of fire blankets and how to choose the correct equipment to tackle a fire (only if appropriate to do so).
6ASSESSMENT
A short assessment comprising of a series of questions to test your knowledge and understanding of the course.

Upon successful completion, a certificate of achievement is available and or automatically added to a learner’s digital record.
Digital certificate(s) – print, download, store
A certificate includes the learner’s name, course title, completion score / result, completion date and any marks of approval, accreditation authorities, and or distribution partners. It can be downloaded, stored or printed.

Q: Is the course accredited?
Most of our courses are accredited by relevant authorities / approval bodies applicable to the course such as CPD, RoSPA or IIRSM. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any specific standard / approval requirements.
Q: Will I get a certificate?
All courses come with a certificate of achievement in recognition of completing the course successfully. A digital record is stored with each learner’s history and certificates are available for access and download.
Q: What if I fail my course?
If you do not achieve the pass rate for the course then you will be given the opportunity to review the training content and attempt the assessment again. With some of the video based courses, the course may be locked on a third failed attempt, subject to a review by your organisation administrator of a member of the RealSense support team.
