About the course
This Prevent Duty Training Course is CPD approved video-based e-learning that starts with an overview of the Government’s Prevent strategy and then looks at some of the reasons people become extremists. It goes on to cover the objectives of the Prevent strategy, how to base your actions on a risk-based approach, what to do if you are concerned and recommended reporting procedures.
Government intelligence indicates that further terrorist attacks in our country are ‘highly likely’ and history shows us that the threat comes not just from foreign nationals, but from terrorists born and bred in Britain. It is therefore vital that our country’s counter-terrorism strategy contains a plan to prevent radicalisation. The Prevent strategy, published by the Government is part of the overall counter-terrorism strategy.

Prevent training aims to educate and inform employees about their duties and responsibilities with regards to the Government Prevent strategy and will ensure that those in key sectors are trained and knowledgeable about what to do if they are concerned.

2WHAT IS PREVENT?
History of Prevent Strategy, CONTEST (Pursue, Prevent, Protect, Prepare), Strategic Objectives, Definition of Extremism, what the Government Prevent Strategy says and means, the purpose of Prevent, the Counter Terrorism and Security Act (2015), Specified Authorities and Best Practice.

The radicalisation process, behavioural and situational changes and early indicators, more advanced warning signs, marked behaviour changes when moving towards terrorist activity, examples of extreme behaviour, stemming radicalisation.
6WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU ARE CONCERNED
The Channel process, open communication, early intervention plan, understanding the situation, appropriate support and service providers, supporting those who refuse help – early action, social relations, ideology and criminal activity, who to involve or ask for help at each stage of the process, when to act. Identifying risks when safeguarding children, safeguarding vulnerable adults and or protecting the public are often factors that can trigger concern and actions.
7THE CHANNEL PROCESS
What is channel prevent training? what does the process involve? – Channel panels, Aims, Three Objectives – identify individuals at risk, assess risk and develop support, safeguarding and protecting vulnerable people, is a support package needed, developing bespoke support packages.
8BRITISH VALUES
Developing a sense of belonging and support for core values, effective practice for employers, educational establishment requirements, types of government – democracy, anarchy, communism, monarchy, constitutional monarchy, dictatorship, phallocracy.

If you do not achieve the pass rate for the course then you will be given the opportunity to review the training content and attempt the assessment again. With some of the video based courses, the course may be locked on a third failed attempt, subject to a review by your organisation administrator of a member of the RealSense support team.
