Importantly, our course takes a detailed look at the new Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA). This is a UK law designed to improve corporate transparency and strengthen the fight against economic crime including fraud. The act comes into effect in September 2025. This Act strengthens existing legislation and also introduces the corporate offence of ‘failure to prevent fraud’. This makes companies liable for fraud committed by their employees or associated persons, particularly if it benefits the company or its clients.

About the Fraud Awareness and Prevention Course
Our Fraud Awareness and Prevention online training course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, prevent, and respond to fraud in the workplace.

Course content
1Introduction to fraud
In this opening chapter, you’ll look at what fraud is, how prevalent fraud is, the different types of fraud that might be committed, and the impact it can have on businesses, society and individuals.
This chapter also contains a brief overview of recent high-profile fraud cases.
2Law and legislation
This chapter covers legislation relating to fraud, and gives you in-depth information about the Fraud Act (2006) and the new Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (2023).
You’ll also learn about a new offence – the failure to prevent fraud. This chapter looks at all the key components of the ECCTA in detail, explains your responsibilities and demonstrates the possible consequences of failing to prevent fraud for both organisations and individuals.
3Understanding workplace fraud
Workplace fraud happens every day, and can occur in may different ways. In this chapter you’ll take a closer look at workplace fraud and find our about the different types of external and internal fraud with impactful case studies included.
Next, you’ll learn about the kind of people who may commit fraud, the psychology of fraud and the ‘fraud triangle’ which will help you to understand what makes people cross the line.
This chapter concludes with a case study to help you consolidate your learning about fraud.
4Risk of fraud
There are a number of warning signs that may raise concerns about the occurrence of fraud. These are known as red flags. This chapter explains the different types of possible red flags and gives you information to help identify them. (We cover behavioural, operational and financial red flags in this section).
Following this, you’ll undertake an exercise where you need to identify whether you believe the statement shown is a behavioural, operational or financial red flag. This will help raise your awareness of the different types of red flag that could indicate fraud is occurring.
5Preventing fraud
This final chapter explores how fraud is spotted, your role and responsibilities, how to report suspicions, whistleblowing, and fraud investigations.
6Assessment
A short assessment comprising of a series of questions to test your knowledge and understanding of the course.

How is it delivered?
Modules are delivered via our online learning platform, Activbase or available in alternative formats for use on a customer’s own Learning Management System (LMS). Once payment has been received, you will be sent an email from RealSense confirming your purchase followed by a separate email from our Activbase Learning Platform with details on how to access your course(s). Access is available 24/7 for the duration of your license. Customers requiring a different course format e.g. SCORM for use on their own LMS, please contact us with your requirements.

Upon successful completion, a certificate of achievement is available and or automatically added to a learner’s digital record.
Digital certificate(s) – print, download, store
A certificate includes the learner’s name, course title, completion score / result, completion date and any marks of approval, accreditation authorities, and or distribution partners. It can be downloaded, stored or printed.

Records contain details of sessions including progress, attempts and results. Records and certificates - Is the course accredited? What if i fail? Can I download my certificate?
Q: Is the course accredited?
Most of our courses are accredited by relevant authorities / approval bodies applicable to the course such as CPD, RoSPA or IIRSM. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any specific standard / approval requirements.
Q: Will I get a certificate?
All courses come with a certificate of achievement in recognition of completing the course successfully. A digital record is stored with each learner’s history and certificates are available for access and download.
Q: What if I fail my course?
If you do not achieve the pass rate for the course then you will be given the opportunity to review the training content and attempt the assessment again. With some of the video based courses, the course may be locked on a third failed attempt, subject to a review by your organisation administrator of a member of the RealSense support team.
